July 23: Visit a Garden Center

Image
Hi everyone! Today, while I was on vacation with my family in New Jersey, my sister and I visited a Garden Center. The name of the center was “Magnolia Garden Village.” I am inserting pictures below! If you are not aware of my recent experiences while growing a Watermelon plant, I do NOT have a green thumb. However, I still thoroughly enjoy and appreciate the beauty of all plants, especially flowers. I have to say, this was one of the activities I was most excited to complete. New Jersey is such a beautiful place with such unique greenery, I was very excited to check out this center. My favorite flower that I saw was the blue hydrangea. This flower is very common in New Jersey and other Northern states during the spring and summer. I absolutely love how vibrant these flowers are as well. I inserted a picture of the flower below as well. Thank you for reading this! See you next time!

July 16th: Visit an Active Farm

Image
Hi everybody! Today, my little sister and I went to visit an active farm. This farm is actually part of a smoothie shop called “Robert is Here” located near the Florida Keys. This has been one of my favorite smoothie shops ever since I was little. I make my family stop every time we are near that area.  My sister and I went to go get smoothies, and also walked to the farm section, where we got to see animals like chickens, goats, cows, cockatoos, and some reptiles. It was an awesome experience, and would love to go back again.  Additionally, my sister and I were able to see where they grew a lot of their own fruits. They were located near strawberry and sunflower fields, which were beautiful. They also had many plants like basil, mint, and parsley growing, which they may use in their smoothies or food. I did not get pictures of these plants, but I will insert the picture of the strawberry field below (I cropped myself out of it)! Thanks for reading! See you next time!

July 5th: Tasting New Fruits!

Image
Hi everyone! Today, my friend Mia and I visited a local farmers market near my house called the “Yellow Green Farmers Market.” I inserted a picture below of what the market looks like from the outside, as I forgot to take one myself.  While there, I decided to try a new fruit: Guava! Here are some images of Pink Guava trees, and also the table where I was able to get the guava. If I am being honest, I did not like guava. I was told it would taste like a mix between strawberry and pear, but the one I got was quite tart and not very tasty. Maybe I need to try another guava in order to form a better opinion, but if you like slightly tart fruits, guava is the fruit for you!  Thanks for reading! See you next time!

June 24th: Comparing Grocery Store Fruit Displays

Image
Hi everyone! Welcome to my first blog post!! Today, I am comparing fruit displays in two different grocery stores in two separate states. First, I took this picture at the local Publix near my house in Hollywood, Florida. As you can see, the main fruits on display are apples and oranges. This may be due to the fact that Florida’s subtropical, warm climate is suitable for orange production. Additionally, Florida is also one state known for having a multitude of Granny Smith apples, as they require very low amounts of chill time. The fruit display at this store is very vibrant, but does not have much variety. Now, here is a picture I took at a grocery store in New Jersey called “Castles.” As you can see, there is a plethora of fresh, sliced or whole fruit. New Jersey’s proximity to major markets and favorable summer climate gives it access to many different fresh fruits. I personally preferred the fruit display in the New Jersey market, but I love all fruits, and did not notice any diffe...
